A violent encounter between U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and an illegal alien in Illinois has sparked outrage from the political Left – but not for the reasons you’d expect. An ICE officer was seriously injured after being dragged by a car, and the suspect – a man who had been living in the country illegally for decades – is now dead. Predictably, Democrats and activist groups are blaming ICE and President Trump instead of the criminal who caused it.
The Deadly Encounter
On the morning of September 12, 2025, ICE officers attempted to arrest 38-year-old Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez during a traffic stop. Instead of complying, he resisted, gunned his vehicle forward, and struck one of the agents. That officer was dragged “a significant distance” as Villegas-Gonzalez tried to escape. Fearing for his life, the officer opened fire, fatally striking the suspect.
Both men were taken to the hospital. The officer remains in serious but stable condition. Villegas-Gonzalez, however, was later pronounced dead.
