A would-be member of the radical left’s “Squad” learned the hard way what happens when you try to interfere with federal law enforcement.
Kat Abughazaleh, a former Media Matters reporter now running in Illinois’ 9th congressional district, was sent sprawling to the pavement by an ICE officer after she attempted to block a government vehicle outside an immigration processing facility.
Staging the Spectacle
Abughazaleh apparently believed she could score sympathy points by recording the confrontation and posting it online. But the footage tells a different story: she deliberately planted herself in front of an ICE transport vehicle as agents tried to leave. That stunt ended with an officer shoving her out of the way, and the crowd around her erupting in chaos.
The protest unfolded outside the ICE center in Broadview, Illinois, where activists had gathered to rail against immigration enforcement. At one point, the situation grew so unruly that agents used tear gas to disperse demonstrators and media swarming the exit lanes.
