We became friends, and whenever we met were always so pleased to see each other.”

Salem, who was born in 1944 in India, grew up in an artistic family and attended the Central School of Speech and Drama in London to further her love of theater. She was cast in popular television series such as ER, Blake’s 7, The Tripods, and Into the Labyrinth thanks to her diverse repertoire. Her portrayal of UK Prime Minister Maureen Graty during turbulent times in the Middle East will be recognizable to American viewers of The West Wing.
