Harvard ‘Disinformation’ Program Ends In Disgrace

Following President Trump’s election in 2016, various prestigious universities, like Harvard and Yale, swiftly took a position against misinformation. This reflects a wider change towards increased awareness about the spread of potentially harmful information at this time.

Millions of dollars were invested to conduct extensive research into the impact and sources of right-wing and Russian disinformation. This state-of-the-art inquiry offers fresh perspective on a crucial social problem.

Many news sites first looked to projects like Hamilton68 for proof that Russian internet bots were influencing online conversation, but these claims have since been refuted. These assertions’ poor methodology was exposed by a thorough study, rendering them unreliable information sources.

With the departure of the project’s principal investigator Joan M. Donovan in 2024, the ground-breaking Harvard misinformation experiment will come to an abrupt end.

This initiative, which was started in 2019, is at the forefront of research and analysis for the 2020 presidential contest. Both significant Democratic lawmakers and major media sources have generally acknowledged its conclusions.

The project’s fundraising attempts by Donovan have been suspended, and the institution has halted hiring.

Millennial Reports:

Joan M. Donovan, a “misinformation expert,” is apparently being fired from her employment at the Harvard Kennedy School’s Shorenstein Center for Media, Politics, and Public Policy as well as having her research project discontinued.

The Harvard Crimson has been notified by officials at the Harvard Kennedy School that Donovan, a seasoned non-tenure professor, would leave the school and wrap up her Technology and Social Change Project by the summer of 2024.

Donovan joined the Shorenstein Center in 2019 and has since been a staple with her broad knowledge of public policy. She serves as this organization’s research director and an adjunct instructor at the Harvard Kennedy School, which makes her a priceless asset to both organizations.

In an unexpected move, Donovan, one of the Harvard Kennedy School’s most distinguished faculty members, was secretly severed from the school by Dean Douglas W. Elmendorf. According to reports, the choice was made in reaction to her gaining notoriety at the school.
