Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, a prominent Democrat, has found herself at the center of a storm after a TikTok video surfaced in which she is accused of mocking the Catholic faith. The video, posted by influencer Liz Plank (@feministabulous), quickly went viral, drawing widespread criticism, particularly from Catholics, for what many perceive as an attack on one of the core sacraments of the Church.
The video shows Whitmer participating in a lighthearted segment, but the scene quickly took a controversial turn. In the clip, Whitmer, wearing a camouflage Harris-Walz hat, places a Dorito in the mouth of Plank, who is kneeling with her hands folded as if receiving the Eucharist. Whitmer can be seen smirking as the camera pans back to her. The imagery is reminiscent of the Catholic sacrament of Communion, where the faithful receive a wafer representing the body of Christ.
