A Republican legislator becomes frustrated with the party’s silence on the growing drug and people smuggling at the US-Mexico border.
Invoking Mayorkas’ “failure to act” in his capacity as the top border officer, House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN) has requested Congress to remove Mayorkas from office. Emmer thinks that Mayorkas must be fired and is urging swift action.
In a Capitol Hill office interview with Breitbart News, Emmer stated that Mayorkas ” he should be impeached” since he won’t leave freely.
President Biden’s senior border officer, according to Emmer, has engaged in the “greatest malfeasance” in the middle of the pending impeachment discussion. He uses the dire circumstances at the southern border as an illustration.
“They talk about being humane. Children are disappearing. People are getting killed,” Emmer said. “You’ve got 80 people that have come across the southern border that are on the terrorist watch list.”
Emmer replies to Biden lifting Trump’s strategy of building border barriers to control the flow of illegal immigration. One of the few remaining instruments for border officers to manage the issue was Title 42.
According to federal statistics gathered before Thursday, almost five million illegal immigrants have been confronted by American border agents since Biden assumed office and reversed several of Trump’s immigration and border security initiatives on his first day.
“This, to me, is the greatest malfeasance, and malfeasance is — it’s not a failure to act — it’s an intentional failure to act. Mayorkas should be impeached,” Emmer said. “I think we should be talking seriously about that regardless of what this feckless Senate might want to do.”
Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX), who is the third-ranking Republican in the House, reportedly reiterated Emmer’s accusation that the Biden administration had “blood on their hands” at a recent news conference.
“Mayorkas is guilty of child abuse, in my opinion, by not vetting the sponsors of the parents, supposedly, or sponsors of these children,” Immediately after the GOP-led House on Thursday passed the party’s key border security package, McCaul told reporters.

After seizing control of the chamber, House Republicans lost no time in targeting Mayorkas. They submitted articles of impeachment against him in February. Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) has since submitted a second article of impeachment in which he charges Mayorkas with breaking both the law and his oath of office. The most recent information is on Fox News.
Rep. Pat Fallon filed the first articles of impeachment against Mayorkas in January.
“The one thing I’ve always said is we’re not like Democrats; we don’t do impeachment just for political purposes,” McCarthy said. “But if something rises to that occasion — that’s why we will do all the homework on what has transpired down here, and if that reaches to an impeachment inquiry, we’ll follow through with that.”
When questioned about the need, Emmer insists on impeaching the DHS director.
“I know that we’re going to have members — much like other constitutional disagreements we’ve had, there’s probably going to be a member who says … who’s a stickler about high crimes and misdemeanors,” Emmer said. “I believe if you look at the actual law and the precedent that’s been set — and forget about the phony impeachment stuff that the Democrats have been doing for political stunts — this one’s a real, real issue. You can see the pictures live every day. You have an administration and an idiot that’s in charge of the border. I don’t know where 85,000 children went.”
“Please,” Emmer said. “It’s time for him to go. He should do the honorable thing and resign. He won’t. Therefore, he should be impeached.”
