A political earthquake is rumbling in the Garden State. Republican nominee Jack Ciattarelli just released an internal poll showing he’s locked in a dead heat with Democrat U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill. Even more shocking—this survey has Ciattarelli narrowly ahead.
The numbers speak volumes. The poll shows Ciattarelli at 46 percent to Sherrill’s 45 percent in a head-to-head matchup. Among voters not tied to either party, Ciattarelli is crushing Sherrill with a staggering 21-point lead. This is the first time any public survey has shown the Republican pulling ahead as the race barrels toward the finish line.
The poll comes from National Research, a New Jersey-based firm founded by Adam Geller. Conducted between September 16 and 18 with 600 likely voters, the results were first reported by the New Jersey Globe.
Of course, political insiders caution that internal polls should always be viewed carefully. Campaigns only release numbers that help their narrative. Other polls have painted a different picture: Quantus Insights recently gave Sherrill a 10-point lead, while Quinnipiac pegged her advantage at eight.
