The Gay Lesbian and Straight Education Network’s “Rainbow Library” Program received a grant from the Detroit-based carmaker last year, which demonstrated their commitment to philanthropy in the field of education. GM did not disclose the amount of funding given to the pro-transgender organization, but it did reveal “$86.7 million in cash and in-kind donations to nonprofits working to help create inclusive solutions to social issues around the world” according to the research, in 2021.
Pro-transgender group tries to alter the curriculum in schools
The GLSEN has come under fire for reportedly attempting to integrate “trans and non-binary” gender theory into curricula and school rules.
GLSEN offers lesson ideas, “educator guides,” and professional development training for teachers, according to its website.
GLSEN carefully selected the books for their program from a long list of critically acclaimed and award-winning works, including those recognized by the American Library Association’s Rainbow Book List and the Stonewall Award.
