Garland Boasts About J6 Prosecutions, Issues Election Warning!

During a press conference at the Department of Justice on Friday, Attorney General Merrick Garland took the opportunity to send a not-so-subtle message regarding the 2024 General Election. While the primary topic was a DOJ lawsuit against RealPage, a property management software company, Garland’s comments quickly shifted to a different concern when an audience member raised a critical question.

A man in the audience, presumably a member of the press, asked Garland about concerns surrounding the transfer of power in the upcoming election. The question highlighted that “prosecutors and judges” in Washington, D.C., are reportedly growing anxious about the potential dangers associated with another event like January 6th. This led Garland to issue a clear, if veiled, warning.

“I think our prosecutions have made clear what we think about people who try to interfere with the peaceful transfer of power, which is an essential and fundamental element of our democracy. I quibble about whether we have 1500 or slightly less than 1500, but we have way more than 1400 now, prosecutions,” Garland responded.

He went on to emphasize the seriousness with which the DOJ views any attempts to disrupt the democratic process. “We have a substantial number of convictions. I think that’s shown to everybody how seriously we take an effort to interfere with the peaceful transfer of power. The last January 6th, the coming January 6th, and every January 6th after that. I wanna make clear to anybody who’s thinking about interfering with that. They can see what we’ve done with respect to the January 6th prosecutions, and the Justice Department will continue to protect our democracy.”
