Rev. Franklin Graham delivered a stirring speech on the status of the world on a stirring New Year’s Eve. He highlighted the dire consequences of socialism, called attention to the situation in Ukraine, and proclaimed that the world was in the midst of a crisis.
In a letter to his fellow Christians, Billy Graham gave advice on how to get through this trying time:

Our planet is in a precarious situation as 2023 dawns. While atheism has been pushed out of hiding to seek acknowledgment instead of faith-based beliefs, war ravages Ukraine and violence sweeps the US. In industrialized countries, socialism is growing and making yet another effort to remove God from public life. Jesus Christ himself challenges us in the face of these difficult circumstances: “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one gets to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). We kindly remind everyone who is yet unredeemed that it is still possible for them to be saved by turning from their sins and putting their faith in Him.
By first discussing the status of our world today and then offering a reassuring reminder, Reverend Graham utilized a series of articles to inspire his audience. He reminded them that the teaching of Jesus asks us to live intentionally while we wait for His Second Coming, living lives that in every way possible reflect Him. Reverend Graham urged Christians worldwide to practice responsible stewardship up to the fulfillment of Christ’s second coming via this call to action.
Christ said, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” (Matthew 24:35-44)
It wasn’t obvious if the post was intended to be a response to his “what do we do?” query from his New Years’ post or if it was instead intended to be a message about living well and keeping your attention on God that was strictly religious and unrelated to politics.
