A former contestant on NBC’s hit singing competition The Voice was arrested last week in Oklahoma after authorities issued a warrant for vehicular homicide in Tennessee.
Kata Hay, legally known as Kata Huddleston, was taken into custody on December 17 following a coordinated multi-state effort by law enforcement to track her down and return her to Tennessee, according to the New York Post.
Hay faces serious allegations stemming from a deadly crash earlier this month on Long Hollow Pike near Interstate 65 in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. Authorities say she was allegedly driving under the influence, had an open container of alcohol in her vehicle, and struck two other cars in a hit-and-run before fleeing the scene.
One of the victims, 82-year-old Gayle Nichols, succumbed to her injuries on December 12, prompting police to elevate charges to vehicular homicide. While details about injuries to other victims have not been released, the incident involved at least two additional vehicles being struck.
