Florida Vacation Turns Into a Nightmare

>> Continued From the Previous Page <<

That’s when a man later identified as Ahmad Jihad Bojeh allegedly approached them and opened fire, killing all three.

No warning. No argument. No dispute.

Just sudden, brutal violence.

Families say the attack came out of nowhere

Loved ones of the victims released a statement describing the killings as random and senseless—an act they say the men never could have seen coming.

“There were no known interactions between the men and this individual prior to the event; they were then approached and senselessly murdered. This was a random, tragic act,” the Kraft brothers and Puchan’s family said.

“These three wonderful men did not deserve this. Our families are left with an unexpected, unimaginable loss that cannot be put into words,” the family said.

“We ask for privacy, prayers, and respect as we mourn and begin to process this tragedy,” the family said in a joint statement.

Their words paint a heartbreaking picture: three older men who traveled to Florida to relax—only to be taken from their families in the blink of an eye.

Sheriff: “Cold-blooded” and “premeditated”

Law enforcement officials did not mince words about what they believe happened.

Osceola County Sheriff Christopher Blackmon addressed the public and described the killings as deliberate and deeply disturbing.

“It was cold-blooded, it was premeditated, there was absolutely no issues,” Blackmon said. “There was no conflict between these people. This was just random. And this happened to be the person who lived next door.”

That detail alone—next door—has intensified the outrage and fear. These men were reportedly staying at a rental property adjacent to Bojeh’s home. They weren’t roaming dark alleys or putting themselves in risky situations. They were in a neighborhood, in broad daylight, simply waiting for assistance.

Deputies find three bodies outside the rental home

Deputies responded to the scene around 12:13 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports of gunfire in a subdivision near Kissimmee.

When law enforcement arrived, they discovered a devastating scene: the bodies of three adult men lying outside the rental home. Each had suffered what authorities described as apparent gunshot wounds.

Officials later confirmed the identities:

Robert Luis Kraft, 69, of Holland, Michigan.

Douglas Joseph Kraft, 68, of Columbus, Ohio.

James Puchan, 68, a friend from Ohio.

The three weren’t supposed to be there as long as they were. Sheriff Blackmon explained they had extended their stay by one extra day after dealing with car problems that left them waiting for service.

That one-day delay may have placed them in the worst possible place at the worst possible time.

A past arrest raises serious questions

Adding another alarming layer to the story is what has now surfaced about the suspect’s history.

According to Fox 35 Orlando, Bojeh had previously been arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder with a firearm. However, he was later acquitted after an insanity plea.

For many Americans, that revelation is hard to swallow.

How does someone once charged in an attempted murder case end up back in society—then allegedly accused of carrying out a triple homicide?

It’s a question that’s going to hang over this case as more details emerge.

A community shaken—and families forever changed

For the families, the grief is permanent. One moment their loved ones were enjoying a weekend away. The next, they were gone.

And for the public, the case is a chilling reminder of how quickly “random” violence can strike—especially when warning signs may have already existed.

The investigation is still unfolding, but one fact is already clear: three men who simply wanted a weekend together will never come home.

And an entire nation is left asking how this could happen—again.
