According to a former FBI agent, the Venezuelan national suspected in the killing of University of Georgia student Laken Riley was being investigated by the FBI for assaulting a federal officer.
After entering the country illegally in June 2022, Jose Antonio Ibarra was freed from Border Patrol custody. However, he is currently facing a plethora of charges related to Riley’s tragic death, including felony murder, malice murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, kidnapping, obstructing a 911 call, and concealing another person’s death.

Ibarra was previously looked at for assaulting a federal officer, according to a disclosure made on Monday by former FBI agent Kyle Seraphin, who was fired for disclosing information about potential corruption inside the agency.
