The prosecutor chosen to replace Fani Willis in her politically-charged RICO crusade against President Donald Trump has officially shut the entire case down — a dramatic ending to a legal saga that dragged on for more than a year.
It marks yet another collapse of a high-profile attempt to criminalize challenges to the 2020 election. And once again, the effort fell apart under its own corruption.
Back in August 2023, Fani Willis stunned the nation when she indicted President Trump and 18 other defendants simply for questioning the 2020 results. Her office threw the book at them using RICO charges — a law typically used to target organized crime, not political disagreements.
Willis’ team pursued the case with an intensity that raised eyebrows nationwide. That’s when the scandal emerged.
