Erik Prince Just Left Denmark Speechless!

Prince also reminded listeners of the Louisiana Purchase, another historic acquisition. “The Louisiana Purchase was purchased from Napoleon, who was weakened at the end of the French Revolution,” Prince explained. “We bought land, and this is another opportunity to do something similar.”

Greenland’s Hidden Treasure

Greenland’s value extends far beyond precedent. “It is unbelievably laden with significant mineral value, and it is part of our northern flank,” Prince said. “As the Arctic Sea becomes more navigable, and there are more transits, it becomes super relevant for global shipping.”

Melting ice is opening Arctic shipping lanes that could become major international trade corridors. Whoever controls Greenland controls access. China and Russia are already moving aggressively to dominate Arctic navigation while Western leaders fret about offending Denmark.

Prince highlighted the absurdity of the current arrangement: “Right now, it is effectively a protectorate of Denmark,” he said. “The Danes pay the bill for its defense, even though we effectively pay the bill for Denmark’s defense, and all of Europe.”

America shoulders NATO’s defense commitments, while Denmark maintains control over Greenland, which contains trillions in untapped resources—resources Denmark cannot fully develop or protect from global competitors.

Critical Minerals in America’s Hands

Greenland possesses 25 of the 34 minerals the European Commission classifies as critical raw materials. These include rare earths essential for electric vehicles, wind turbines, semiconductors, AI chips, missiles, and satellites.

Currently, China dominates roughly 70% of rare earth production and 90% of processing, a position it leverages to restrict U.S. access. Control of Greenland could shift this dynamic in America’s favor, giving the U.S. secure access to the materials it needs for defense and technological advancement.

A Win for Greenlanders

Prince proposed a deal that benefits both Greenland and the U.S. “I think if you open it up to a vote for them, they would vote to become American citizens, and to open it and make it a protectorate like Puerto Rico,” he suggested.

Under his vision, Greenland would receive 50% of mineral revenue without assuming development costs. “If we did that, Greenland would still get a 50% carry on any mineral value extracted, so they get none of the costs they have to bear and 50% of the upside,” Prince said. “With American naval protection and all the American capital markets plowing capital in, to develop the various completely uninhabited parts of Greenland for the betterment of Greenland citizens.”

Currently, Greenlanders rely on Danish subsidies while sitting atop resources worth trillions they cannot access. American investment and military backing could instantly transform the territory’s economy.

Denmark’s Hand Is Weak

Prince acknowledged that Denmark won’t give up Greenland without negotiations. “There will be some Danish nationalists or some Danish socialists who will not like that idea,” he said. “But those are to be negotiated.”

The reality is clear: Denmark cannot defend Greenland from Chinese economic pressure or Russian military maneuvers. They cannot develop the resources. They cannot secure Arctic shipping lanes. All they can do is collect NATO defense checks while pretending they manage Greenland.

Trump’s approach offers Greenlanders what Denmark never could: prosperity, security, and American citizenship. A vote would likely show overwhelming support for joining the U.S., giving its 50,000 residents real control over their resources.

A Bold Move for America’s Future

The critics cry “imperialism,” yet they remained silent as China quietly expanded across Arctic ports. If Trump succeeds, his Greenland strategy could rank alongside the Louisiana Purchase and Alaska acquisition as one of America’s most consequential strategic moves.

And just like Seward’s critics, those opposing Trump today may ultimately look foolish.
