A former staff member of Rep. Eric Swalwell has come forward with serious allegations, accusing the California Democrat of sexual assault tied to an incident she says occurred in 2024 while she was heavily intoxicated. Swalwell has firmly rejected the claims, calling them completely untrue and vowing to fight them.
The allegations, first reported through CNN, center on claims made by the woman that she was assaulted after a night of drinking in New York. According to her account, she later woke up disoriented inside Swalwell’s hotel room.
“I was pushing him off of me, saying no,” the woman told CNN. “He didn’t stop,” she said.
She further alleged that she was left confused about how she ended up in the room and that the following day she discovered physical injuries. CNN reported she had bruises, cuts, and bleeding and later sought medical testing soon after the incident.
The woman also described a separate alleged encounter dating back to 2019. In that earlier situation, she claimed she again woke up in a hotel room with Swalwell after a night of heavy drinking, with no recollection of what had occurred.
