With his scathing criticism of Rep. Eric Swalwell on Monday on potential connections to a Chinese spy in December 2020, President Trump raised some eyebrows. The California Democrat was ousted from their position on the House Intelligence Committee for reportedly being related to accused intelligence operator Fang Fang (also known as Christine Fang), causing shockwaves and thrusting U.S.-China relations back into the forefront.
The California representative Eric Swalwell came under media scrutiny when it was revealed that he had connections with Fang Fengping, a citizen of China. The person who has been most closely associated with her thus far is undoubtedly him.

Trump remarked in a funny way, “Little respected, lightweight Representative Eric Swalwell was just kicked off the Intelligence Committee for reasons of integrity and lack of intelligence, and for having the poor judgment of dating and falling desperately in love with a Chinese spy…”
According to reports, over the period of four years, Fang formed contacts with lawmakers in the Bay Area, including Swalwell. She allegedly first met him in 2012 at a political event and afterwards helped raise money for his congressional campaign two years later.
Rep. Eric Swalwell said that he had cooperated with the FBI in their attempts to learn more about Fang’s activities and denied knowing about or taking part in any of her alleged links to the Chinese government. Contact was promptly cut off once the FBI notified the parties in 2015.
