Dhillon also cited the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (FACE), which protects houses of worship from disruption. Under the Biden administration, the FACE Act became infamous for targeting peaceful pro-life demonstrators while ignoring hundreds of attacks on churches after the Dobbs decision. Now, the Trump-era DOJ appears to be enforcing the law for its intended purpose: defending Christians from left-wing violence.
Lemon’s own livestream may prove the most damning evidence. Before entering the church, he openly discussed tactics with his crew.
“If they see me, they’re going to know,” Lemon said while sitting in his vehicle. He described the protesters’ strategy of catching people “off guard” and told viewers he couldn’t reveal details because “these operations are surprise operations.”
“And so that’s what we’re doing here,” he added. “And then after that, after we do this operation, you’ll see it live.”
Dhillon didn’t mince words about Lemon’s defense.
“Don Lemon himself said he knew exactly what was going to happen inside that facility, he went into the facility, and then he began, quote-unquote, ‘committing journalism,’ and as if that’s sort of a shield from being an embedded part of a criminal conspiracy,” Dhillon stated.
The legal precedent is clear: claiming First Amendment protection does not excuse participating in a criminal plot—even with a camera in hand.
The hypocrisy of left-wing activists complaining about federal scrutiny is stark. Under Biden, the DOJ aggressively prosecuted peaceful pro-life demonstrators while largely ignoring more than 150 attacks on churches and pregnancy centers, including arson, vandalism, and threats of violence.
Congressman John Rutherford has documented this double standard in letters to Attorney General Merrick Garland. Under Trump, 23 pro-life advocates were pardoned, and FACE Act prosecutions were limited to cases involving serious harm or significant property damage. Now, left-wing activists face the very laws Biden’s DOJ refused to enforce.
Attorney General Pam Bondi emphasized that the current DOJ is taking threats to churches seriously.
“I just spoke to the Pastor in Minnesota whose church was targeted,” Bondi said. “Attacks against law enforcement and the intimidation of Christians are being met with the full force of federal law.”
Dhillon confirmed the investigation covers multiple federal statutes, including conspiracy charges under the Klan Act. Lemon’s own statements and videos could demonstrate his participation in planning and executing the church invasion.
“Some of these folks who did this have self-identified,” Dhillon said, noting several protesters—and Lemon himself—admitted on camera to orchestrating the “surprise operation.”
The irony is unmistakable. Don Lemon, once a staunch defender of Black Lives Matter protests and a critic of Trump supporters, now faces potential prosecution under laws designed to protect freed slaves from Klan violence—simply because he helped left-wing activists terrorize a Christian congregation.
