The assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk continues to shock the nation — and now, a bizarre twist has emerged.
Court records show that a 71-year-old political agitator falsely confessed to killing Kirk in a dramatic stunt meant to “draw attention away from the real shooter.”
The False Confession
According to Fox 13 Utah, longtime activist George Zinn was led away from Utah Valley University in handcuffs shortly after Kirk’s murder. Witnesses say Zinn shouted at officers, “I shot him, now shoot me.”
Police quickly realized the elderly man had no weapon. During questioning, Zinn admitted he was lying. He allegedly told investigators he wanted to be a distraction “to draw attention from the real shooter.”
Authorities say his bizarre outburst slowed down the immediate investigation into Kirk’s assassination, wasting crucial time and resources. Zinn now faces a second-degree felony charge for obstruction of justice.
