Democrats are already acting like the Speaker’s gavel is theirs for the taking after Tuesday night’s off-year elections. The celebrations started before the votes were even cold. They scored predictable wins in deep-blue states and suddenly believe they’ve secured a “mandate” heading into 2026.
But let’s be honest — winning in states that already bleed Democrat blue isn’t a national revolution. It’s like bragging about being a world champion after winning your neighborhood bowling tournament.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries wasted no time patting himself on the back Wednesday morning.
“Yesterday was a big night for America and a big night for the Democratic Party, as candidates across the country, up and down the ballot, decisively defeated MAGA Republicans in an extraordinary rejection of the extremism that the American people have been experiencing since Day 1 of Donald Trump’s presidency,” Jeffries declared.
Jeffries wasn’t alone in the fantasy. The House Majority PAC sent out a memo dripping with overconfidence.
