Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey spent days lecturing the public about the deadly ICE shooting in his city. He dismissed the seriousness of the incident, mocked the federal agent involved, and publicly demanded that Immigration and Customs Enforcement leave Minneapolis altogether.
But the mayor’s narrative collapsed after the Department of Homeland Security disclosed a critical medical fact that Frey never mentioned. The ICE agent he belittled suffered internal bleeding and required hospital treatment after being struck by a vehicle.
That revelation has turned Frey’s public comments into a political and moral embarrassment.
Frey’s Flippant Comments Go Viral
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, Frey repeatedly downplayed the injuries suffered by ICE agent Jonathan Ross. Speaking to reporters, the mayor compared the agent being struck by a vehicle to a household mishap.
“The ICE agent walked away with a hip injury that he might as well have gotten from closing a refrigerator door with his hips,” Frey told reporters.
