In a sweeping show of support for President Donald Trump’s foreign policy vision, Senate Republicans pushed through confirmations for three of his hand-picked ambassadors—installing them in the United Kingdom, Turkey, and Italy. The newly approved envoys, Warren Stephens, Tom Barrack, and Tilman Fertitta, have all publicly aligned themselves with Trump’s agenda, giving the administration a new wave of diplomatic firepower overseas.
The Senate confirmed Warren Stephens as the next ambassador to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland with a 59–39 vote, marking one of the most consequential diplomatic placements of Trump’s second term. The chamber’s approval secured a well-known financier and longtime philanthropist for one of America’s most essential foreign alliances.
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR), who has known Stephens for years, delivered a strong endorsement on the Senate floor, calling him a “family man, businessman, philanthropist, and patriot.” Cotton emphasized that Stephens brings credibility and steady leadership to the post, noting, “He is the right person to lead our strong, special relationship with the United Kingdom,” in remarks that drew praise from Republicans across the aisle.
