Virginia’s Democratic nominee for attorney general, Jay Jones, is facing mounting outrage after newly uncovered text messages revealed he fantasized about murdering a sitting Republican lawmaker and even wished harm on his children.
The vile messages, sent in August 2022 and obtained by National Review, show Jones expressing a shocking desire to kill then–House Speaker Todd Gilbert, a Republican, in a violent tirade that has shaken the Virginia political establishment.
“Two Bullets to the Head”
“If those guys die before me… I will go to their funerals to piss on their graves,” Jones texted to Republican Delegate Carrie Coyner, who had served alongside him in the House of Delegates.
In another message, the Democrat nominee continued his chilling fantasy: “Three people, two bullets. Gilbert, hitler, and pol pot… Gilbert gets two bullets to the head.”
Coyner, clearly horrified, pleaded with Jones to stop. “Jay,” she replied. “Please stop.”
“It really bothers me when you talk about hurting people or wishing death on them,” she added.
