De Blasio Breaks Silence After Son Storms Hotel

The de Blasio name is back in the headlines and once again it is not for public service or leadership.

This time, it involves the arrest of former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s son during a chaotic protest targeting a Manhattan hotel, followed by a reaction from the former mayor that stunned even longtime critics.

Dante de Blasio, 29, was taken into custody Tuesday night after joining a group of anti-ICE activists who stormed the lobby of a Hilton Garden Inn in Manhattan’s Tribeca neighborhood and refused to leave.

Protest Turns Into Trespassing Arrests

According to police, 66 protesters were arrested after occupying the hotel lobby for approximately 45 minutes. The group claimed they were acting on tips that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents were staying at the location.

Authorities later confirmed that no ICE personnel were present at the hotel.

Despite that fact, protesters blew whistles, shouted chants, and waved signs accusing the Hilton chain of cooperating with federal immigration enforcement.
