Conservative Journalist Case Takes Unexpected Twist

With the DOJ’s intervention, conservative writer Jonathan Owen Shroyer might receive a 120-day jail sentence. According to the DOJ, Shroyer played a significant role in the events leading up to January 6, 2021.

The Department of Justice has filed claims against prominent online broadcaster Shroyer, who is well-known for his appearances on “The War Room” and InfoWars alongside Alex Jones. They contend that in the months preceding January 6, Shroyer disseminated false information about the election to tens of thousands, if not millions, of viewers. They cite occasions in which he expressed concern that there wouldn’t be “a million peaceful marchers in D.C.” if Joe Biden were elected president.

DOJ: Influential Person Linked to Capitol Incident
The Department of Justice claims that even though he never physically entered the Capitol, his effect was undeniable since so many individuals who listened to him participated in the activities. Shroyer publicly proclaimed his joy with the events of that day and placed the responsibility for the incident on “Antifa” after it occurred.

“Shroyer helped create January 6.” For him, we are asking for a sentence of 120 days in jail, 12 months of probation, 60 hours of community service, and $500 in restitution.

The notoriously obnoxious actor Jon Shroyer encountered legal trouble in December 2019 after being detained for creating a disturbance during a House Judiciary Committee meeting. He signed a Community Service Deferred Prosecution Agreement (DPA) in February 2020 to deal with this problem. In addition to requiring him to complete community service tasks, this agreement also had a clause requiring him to avoid the U.S. Capitol and its surroundings. It is crucial to note that as of January 6, 2021, this Agreement was still in force.

Shroyer’s comments ‘intensified’ in the days before January 6 according to the DOJ. In Washington, D.C., he was spotted addressing crowds and exhorting them to support Trump by saying, “We are the new revolution.” On January 5, he said that the country was prepared to battle and voiced worry about the consequences of continuing with the election’s certification.

“So, despite all the things that they’ve done to try to destroy our morale, despite all the things they’ve done to gaslight us, confuse us, and try to keep us locked inside, we’re here more powerful, more loud, and we’re fightin’ mad,” The document quotes Shoyer as saying on January 5.

The DOJ wrote:

“On the November 18, 2020 broadcast of InfoWars, when talking about the Democrats who have ‘stolen your country,’ Shroyer stated that ‘maybe you deserve what’s coming.’ November 18, 2020 InfoWars broadcast, at 01:30 minutes. He added, ‘But let me tell you: if you steal this election from us and you put in a U.N. communist corrupt criminal Joe Biden in the White House, it’s not going to be a million peaceful marchers in D.C. No, no, no. No, it’s not. No, it’s not.’

Shroyer’s supporters maintain that he was simply exercising his First Amendment rights, while detractors contend that the DOJ has overstepped its bounds. Shroyer joins the growing list of conservatives detained for attending the events on January 6th. Another person, Joseph Biggs, a Purple Heart recipient and distinguished veteran, was just given a 17-year prison term for his part in the Capitol disturbance.

The Department of Justice’s penalties for the incidents on January 6 have drawn criticism, particularly in light of Biggs’ military history and the character of his conduct during the disturbance.

Unexpectedly, a guy who was charged with taking part in the Capitol riot was spared a severe 33-year sentence. Biggs was apparently facing serious accusations despite having just been inside the Capitol building for 20 minutes during the commotion. The court, however, judged the suggested punishment to be disproportionate and “egregious.”
