More than a century ago, Sir Winston Churchill, then a young officer and writer, issued a stark warning about Islam’s impact on societies—a warning that resonates today more than ever.
In 1899, Churchill published The River War: An Historical Account of the Reconquest of the Soudan, chronicling Field Marshal Lord Horatio Kitchener’s military campaign. Churchill was not yet the towering political figure history would remember him for, but even in his twenties, his observations on religion and civilization were remarkably prescient.
Lebanese Canadian commentator Gad Saad recently shared one passage on social media platform X, mocking contemporary critics and even current British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, pointing out how Churchill’s insight would be controversial in today’s climate.
