Chuck Grassley Caught Them — And It’s UGLY

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley just caught two federal judges — Julien Xavier Neals of New Jersey and Henry Wingate of Mississippi — signing off on court orders that were partly written by artificial intelligence tools.

The result? Legal chaos.

Neals’ ruling in a securities lawsuit cited fake quotes, reversed prior rulings, and even misstated case outcomes. His order said motions were denied when they’d actually been granted.

Wingate’s case was worse. His restraining order in a civil-rights case listed plaintiffs and defendants who weren’t even part of the lawsuit, quoted state laws incorrectly, and mentioned people who don’t appear anywhere in court records.

Errors like that aren’t typos. They’re proof these judges didn’t read what they signed — documents that impacted people’s constitutional rights.
