Democrats are once again leaning hard into their favorite election-year buzzword: “affordability.” As midterms approach, party leaders are suddenly pretending to care about the cost of living for everyday Americans, especially when it comes to soaring utility bills. But instead of acknowledging their own role in driving prices sky-high, Democrats want voters to believe these costs simply appeared out of nowhere.
That narrative falls apart the moment the facts are examined — and Energy Secretary Chris Wright recently tore the cover off the issue in a blunt interview with The Wall Street Journal. His comments pulled no punches and directly challenged the left’s carefully constructed myth.
“If you have expensive energy in your state…it’s because politicians and regulators chose to do that,” Wright said.
That single sentence demolishes the Democrats’ talking points. High electricity prices aren’t accidents. They aren’t unavoidable consequences of modern life. According to Wright, they are the result of deliberate political decisions made by left-leaning lawmakers and unelected regulators who placed ideology above affordability.
