Adams Administration Cracks Down on Illegal Vapes

While Eric Adams’ tenure had its share of missteps, one of his administration’s wins was a crackdown on illicit vape products endangering New York’s youth. The numbers from this operation are staggering.

Adams’ team launched “Operation Padlock to Protect,” confiscating over 1,200 pounds of illegal vape products worth more than $80 million.¹ The city even had to foot the bill for destroying the stockpiles, as warehouses were overflowing with contraband.

In addition, Adams sued nine major distributors accused of funneling candy-flavored Chinese vapes into neighborhoods across New York, specifically targeting teenagers.²
