Former Governor Rod Blagojevich, once a rising star in the Democratic Party, is publicly applauding President Donald Trump’s law enforcement strategy after new crime data shows dramatic improvements across the Windy City.
Appearing on Newsmax, Blagojevich delivered a message that the city’s ruling Democrats have tried desperately to avoid. According to the former governor, the president’s targeted surge of federal officers into Chicago has produced results that even critics cannot easily dismiss. “President Trump has dramatically decreased crime rates in the city,” he said, pointing to a staggering drop in multiple violent crime categories. Blagojevich highlighted a “35 percent drop in shootings and a nearly 50 percent reduction in carjackings,” calling the numbers undeniable proof that the effort is protecting the residents most at risk.
For years, Chicago’s poorest neighborhoods have been left behind by politicians who prefer speeches over solutions. Blagojevich underscored that the people benefiting most from Trump’s actions are the same communities that political elites claim to defend. He noted that Chicago’s black residents have carried the heaviest burden of the city’s violence and make up the majority of affected neighborhoods. The former governor argued that Trump’s federal support is doing what local leadership failed to do for decades.
