This Christmas season, Senator Rand Paul’s yearly campaign to highlight government waste may be even more personal since Santa has sent him a gift that speaks for itself. Senator Paul aims to provide taxpayers with a stronger message than ever before about where their money is spent, which isn’t always on wise investments.
An $1.7 trillion omnibus spending measure that is anticipated to pass through both houses before Christmas break with backing from both parties has been sent to the country by three of Washington’s top power brokers as a unique gift for the nation. On behalf of “Santa,” Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell all contributed to bringing this gift to all Americans.

“The legislation includes $772.5 billion for non-defense discretionary programs and $858 billion in defense funding, according to a bill summary from Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy, chair of the Senate Committee on Appropriations,” CNN said on Tuesday.
“The sweeping package includes roughly $45 billion in emergency assistance to Ukraine and NATO allies, boosts in spending for disaster aid, college access, child care, mental health and food assistance, more support for the military and veterans and additional funds for the US Capitol Police, according to Leahy’s summary and one from Sen. Richard Shelby of Alabama, the top Republican on the Senate Appropriations Committee. It also includes several major Medicaid provisions, including one that could disenroll up to 19 million people from the nation’s health insurance program for low-income Americans.”
Remember that the reproduction of Thomas Pynchon’s “Gravity’s Rainbow” that has remained on your library shelf unread for the last ten years is only a bit over a thousand pages. The Pelosi-Schumer-McConnell measure is more than 4,000 pages lengthy and written in a style so cryptic that it resembles Thomas Pynchon’s writing. “Goodnight Moon.” Before the federal government’s funding expires on December 23, Congress is anticipated to move quickly and enact this legislation.
Paul gleefully introduced his “toxic” plan to reporters, showing them an inside peek at 4,000 pages of hurriedly put together congressional expenditures, with a contempt for the current quo.
“I brought with me the omni, 4,155 pages. When was it produced? In the dead of the night — 1:30 in the morning when it was released,” Paul said.
“Now people argue it is conservatives’ fault, you don’t have the Christmas spirit, and somehow you’re holding up the government,” he continued. “Well, whose job is it to produce this? The people in charge of spending. The people in charge of both of the parties.
“When did they know that this would be necessary? Well, it is in the law. Sept. 30. You’ve got nine months, almost ten months to produce a plan. They weren’t ready on Sept. 30, so they voted themselves 90 more days. They weren’t ready last week either, so they voted themselves another week. And now we have it at 1:30 in the morning this morning.
“But what’s the clamor? The clamor is to vote! ‘Vote now! Let’s get it done. Why are you standing in the way of spending?’” He went on.
The Pelosi-Schumer omnibus funding package seeks approval via accelerated routes, a strategy we believe unsuitable for effective governmental operations. It dwarfs in size and breadth to a stunning 1.7 trillion dollars over 4,000 pages of text. By using our freedom to decline, we are arguing against this deceptive tactic.
“Well, the real question is this: What is more dangerous to the country — $1.1 trillion in new debt or, as Republican leadership likes to say, ‘Oh, it is a win! It is a big win. We’re getting $45 billion for the military’?” Paul asked.
“So which is more important? Which threatens the country more? Are we at risk from being invaded by a foreign power if we don’t put $45 billion into the military? Are we more at risk by adding to a $31 trillion debt?”
“I think the greatest risk to our national security is our debt. The process stinks, it is an abomination. It is a no-good rotten way to run your government,” He went on.
“The American people don’t want this. They’re sick and tired of it. They’re paying for it through the nose with inflation,” he added. “Adding a trillion dollars to the deficit will simply fuel the fires that are consuming our wages and consuming our retirement plans. It is a terrible system. Someone needs to stand up. We’re standing up, and we’re going to say no.”
According to reports, a proposal is expected to get support from the GOP, and Senator McConnell seems determined to see it through. The final result is still undetermined yet hopeful.
GOP Rep. Dan Bishop of North Carolina did a thorough study to find out where the planned $1.7 trillion in stimulus monies were going, and he found a number of puzzling features in the bill’s text.
First of all, Customs and Border Protection cannot utilize any money. “to acquire, maintain, or extend border security technology and capabilities” at home In other countries, five nations in the Middle East and North Africa will each get $410 million. “for enhanced border security.”
$410 million has been committed to the border security initiatives of Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia, and Oman in order to create a safe environment in the Middle East.

For salmon, there are $65 million and $3 million available. “Pollinator-Friendly Practices on Roadsides and Highway Rights-of-Way.”
In keeping with its pledge to protect the environment, the government has set aside $3 million for bee-safe roadways and an extra $5 million to promote salmon restoration.
Talk about a buzzkill.
There is funding for both the Nancy Pelosi Federal Building and the “Michelle Obama Trail”:
Recently, Congress passed a package containing multiple earmarks that included $3.6 million for initiatives to improve our country. “Michelle Obama Trail.”
“On a more sinister note, here’s at least $575 million for ‘family planning’ in areas where population growth ‘threatens biodiversity,’” One of the more obnoxious line items in the bill was mentioned by Bishop. “Malthusianism is a disturbing, anti-human ideology that should have ZERO place in any federal program.”
Here’s at least $575 million for a more ominous tone. “family planning” in places with a growing population “threatens biodiversity.”
Malthusianism is a discredited and harmful belief system that has no place in government initiatives and is a severe roadblock to development.
In a lighter vein, $300,000 per year for the “Continuous Plankton Recorder.”
The Continuous Plankton Recorder will earn an amazing $300k per year to help advance our knowledge of maritime habitats, despite its very tiny total contribution.
Cooperation in Washington is not always advantageous, as seen by the failed attempt to pass off a collection of pork-barrel expenditures and obscene budget overruns as “bipartisan.”
Paul’s observation highlights the serious consequences of making careless financial choices in a precarious environment. A law that raises concerns has being rushed through, but for the sake of our nation’s greatest shot at budgetary stability, it should not be adopted and should instead be defeated.
Were getting a bunch of crap hey who saids nancy should never have anything name after that lying btch or Michelle they both are just money hurry btches and for McConnell hell get his raun paul is the only man to stand up to these pieces of crap we need to shut down now our government
