“There’s no credit score. So it’s just you. It’s like your social security. They’re collateralizing you,” Kirk explained.
Recent financial data proves Kirk nailed it. Klarna just reported a $99 million loss in the first quarter of 2025—a sign that young Americans can’t even afford the payments they’ve already signed up for.
Credit losses jumped 17%. Yet instead of pulling back, these companies are expanding into Walmart, DoorDash, and more.
They’re not retreating. They’re tightening the noose.
Kirk saw the deeper danger. These companies train young Americans to think about money differently.
Instead of seeing “$100 for groceries,” they see “four easy payments of $25.” They spend more because the payments feel smaller.
Retailers love it. Foreign companies love it. But it traps young Americans in cycles of debt that destroy financial independence.
“The belief is that Gen Z is doing this to live above their means. Some – most are actually doing this to meet their means,” Kirk said.
Read that again. This isn’t about luxuries. It’s about basic survival.
And yet Republican leaders barely know this problem exists. “I am shocked,” Carlson admitted on air when learning how little Washington understood.
Kirk warned that young Americans can’t buy homes or start families because they’re drowning in small payments to foreign corporations.
“They owe so much more money than generations prior,” he said. “You’re not going to like the politics that comes next.”
