Now, North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum has reclaimed that money—and deployed it in ways Biden never imagined, leaving Democrats scrambling for answers.
Biden Gave a French Company Almost $1 Billion in Ocean Property
In 2022, the Biden administration awarded TotalEnergies two of the nation’s most coveted offshore wind leases. One tract in the New York Bight sold for $795 million. Another off the Carolina coast fetched $133 million. That’s almost a billion dollars in taxpayer money handed to a foreign corporation to build turbines Americans would pay to subsidize.
Biden called it the “clean energy future.”
It never materialized.
