Despite his enormous lead in the polls, Sarah Huckabee Sanders has not backed Donald Trump for the GOP primary in 2024.
Trump dismissed rumors that he had asked Huckabee Sanders for an endorsement in March of last year. He made a suggestion that her victory in the GOP Governor Primary had been facilitated in part by his endorsement.
“As per a rather unimportant Fake News report in the NYT, I never asked Sarah Huckabee Sanders for an endorsement. I give endorsements, I don’t generally ask for them. With that being said, nobody has done more for her than I have, with the possible exception of her great father, Mike!” On Truth Social, Trump posted.
Mike Huckabee, a former governor of Arkansas and the father of Huckabee Sanders, has openly backed Donald Trump for president.
In a statement, Huckabee Sanders’ communications director, Alexa Henning, emphasized her respect for Trump and her conviction that he will be successful in winning the nomination. Trump was not, however, given a formal endorsement at this time.
“Governor Sanders loves President Trump and believes our country would be much better off under his leadership than President Biden, and that President Trump is the dominant frontrunner and our likely Republican nominee in 2024,” Henning spoke with Axios in a statement.
Conservatives and journalists have expressed concern over Huckabee Sanders’ lack of support, suggesting that she could be covertly supporting Ron DeSantis for the position of President.
