As the 2024 presidential race approaches, former President Donald Trump is not only gearing up for a possible victory at the polls but also preparing for the legal showdown that could follow. If Trump manages to defeat Vice President Kamala Harris on Election Day, one of his biggest challenges could come in the courtroom, led by Harris’ campaign attorney, Marc Elias.
According to a report by Paul Sperry from RealClearInvestigations, Elias, a seasoned attorney for the Democratic Party, has already filed more than 60 pre-election lawsuits. These legal actions are aimed at preventing Trump from securing the presidency again. Elias’ filings focus on what he claims are Republican efforts to suppress the vote, particularly by requiring voters to present identification at polling stations. He argues that these measures, which are often defended by Republicans as necessary for election security, are part of a broader attempt to disenfranchise minority voters.

“At the same time, Elias has been sending letters to election officials in Georgia and other key swing states threatening legal action if they uphold challenges to voter rolls to remove noncitizens and other ineligible registrants,” Sperry writes. “Some Georgia officials complain that his intimidation tactics are interfering with county registrars’ ability to check the qualifications of voters.”
