Russell Dye, a spokesman for the committee, provided further details to Newsweek on Wednesday evening, saying, “The committee issued the subpoena on Friday, attempted to serve the subpoena to Nathan Wade’s lawyer, who declined, and subsequently the committee tried to serve the subpoena via email through Nathan Wade himself, never heard back. As a result, the committee had to use the assistance of the U.S. Marshals, who have also not been able to find Nathan Wade.”
Nathan Wade was previously a special prosecutor in the high-profile election interference case against former President Donald Trump in Georgia. His disappearance comes after he failed to respond to the subpoena issued by the House Judiciary Committee, which is now investigating the Fulton County DA’s handling of the Trump case.
Wade’s testimony is crucial to the committee’s investigation. He was expected to provide insights into his personal and professional relationship with Fani Willis, but instead, he has gone missing ahead of the hearing, prompting concerns over his whereabouts.

In a bombshell revelation earlier this year, Trump’s RICO co-defendant Michael Roman exposed the improper relationship between Wade and Willis. Roman’s court filing accused Wade of using funds from Fulton County to finance luxury vacations with Willis, including trips to Napa Valley and Caribbean cruises.
Court records show that since January 2022, Wade has earned close to $654,000 in legal fees, according to a report by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The DA, Fani Willis, authorized his payments.

In an attempt to cover up the affair, Wade and Willis were both reportedly forced to testify under oath, where they allegedly lied about when their relationship began. Adding to the intrigue, Wade reportedly lied during a civil court proceeding regarding his divorce, as well as on a legal brief submitted and signed by Willis.
A court filing in February revealed that Wade and Willis exchanged an astonishing 11,865 text messages in the months leading up to their involvement in the case against Donald Trump and his 18 associates, who were accused of lying about the 2020 election.
The sheer volume of communication between the two paints a troubling picture, suggesting that the relationship between Willis and Wade played a significant role in the case. Despite their denials, it appears increasingly clear that they may have misled the court regarding the extent and timing of their affair.
This scandal led Judge McAfee to dismiss six counts in Willis’ indictment, three of which were against former President Trump. The court’s ruling heavily criticized the DA’s actions, and in its wake, Wade resigned from his position in the RICO case.
“Although the court found that ‘the defendants failed to meet their burden of proving that the District Attorney acquired an actual conflict of interest,’ I am offering my resignation in the interest of democracy, in dedication to the American public, and move this case forward as quickly as possible,” Wade wrote in his resignation letter, which was obtained by WSB-TV.
With Wade now on the run and the U.S. Marshals engaged in a full-scale manhunt, the drama surrounding this case only deepens. The missing investigator holds key information that could unravel further details about the relationship between him and Fani Willis, casting a shadow over the legal proceedings surrounding the 2020 election interference case.
As the nation watches, questions continue to swirl about what consequences this scandal may have for the DA, the ongoing investigation, and the pursuit of justice.
