Speaker of the House Mike Johnson isn’t mincing words about who’s to blame for the ongoing government shutdown. On Monday, Johnson slammed Democrats for the “pain being felt by so many hard-working people around this country,” insisting that President Donald Trump and his administration are doing everything possible to protect Americans from the fallout Democrats created.
“Day 27 means it’s almost been a full month since the Democrats shut down the government. And as we near the end of this month, the pain being felt by so many hard-working people around this country is very real and it gets worse with each passing day,” Johnson said. “Last week, 1.4 million federal workers missed a full paycheck.”
He pointed out that even those who continue to serve essential roles — including TSA agents, air traffic controllers, Border Patrol officers, and members of the U.S. military — are being forced to go without pay because of Democrat obstruction. “The families of military service members and air traffic controllers and so many of these others are now at very real risk of missing the paycheck at the end of this month,” Johnson added.
