As Donald Trump leads most surveys in the campaign for the GOP presidential nomination, speculation about who he would pick as his running mate is escalating.
According to the 1945 website, Trump may choose three strong women as his running mates in 2024. Meet the contenders: Kari Lake, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, and Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (MTG).
In the race for governor of Arizona in 2022, former TV anchor Lake came up just short against Democrat Katie Hobbs. According to the 1945 article, āLake is a unique creature, spewing the hard right rhetoric that MAGA Nation finds so endearing, while doing so with the glitz and polish of a seasoned TV reporter.ā
Greene has a reputation as a far-right Republican who has recently started to garner more acceptability from the party’s mainstream. āThe version of MTG that can appeal to both MAGA and the mainstream is a concerning premise, and someone that Trump has his eye on as a prospective running mate with appeal in the newly-in-play Georgia,ā is how Greene is described by 1945.
Asked on CNN’s “State of the Union” if she would serve as Trump’s running mate, Noem said, “I would be shocked if he asked.” However, Noem has stuck by Trump and is backing his current presidential campaign while continuing to be well-liked among conservatives.
According to the Associated Press in March, “Trump campaign officials insist that the vice presidential search is not something they have been actively discussing,” and given the timetable of the election, a pick for the vice president won’t likely be made until after the primaries are done.
This choice has been the subject of rumors for months, even since Trump declared his campaign.
The importance of the vice presidential nominee during an election campaign has been downplayed by Trump. But after winning, he realizes the serious responsibilities the job entails.

During the 2016 election, Pence was seen to be a top-notch prospect for a running mate.

Loyalty is the main consideration for Trump when choosing a vice president. This is crucial because Pence in 2020 and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis have both disappointed him down in the past.
