Peters served as the Election Clerk for Mesa County and took action to safeguard her machines’ information after being ordered by Secretary of State Jena Griswald to erase all voting machine data. Griswald’s demand to wipe the election data, which Peters argued was against the law, was met with resistance from Peters, who chose instead to preserve the data for future review.
For this, Peters became a target. Local officials launched a criminal investigation into her actions, accusing her of leaking election system passwords online. However, Peters maintains that she had no involvement in the alleged leak, arguing that she was singled out because she documented potential election fraud in her county.
At Mike Lindell’s symposium, Peters expressed her frustration, saying, “We have a secretary of state that is drunk with power. She makes emergency decrees and when we query her – she refuses to answer in violation of the state law.” She added, “I’ve been persecuted. They are trying to take over our election office. We are the last bastion of freedom in Colorado.”
The persecution Peters faced didn’t stop with mere accusations. In an unprecedented move, the FBI raided her home early one morning. Peters recounted the terrifying experience on Lindell’s channel, stating, “The FBI raided my home at 6 a.m. this morning, accusing me of committing a crime. And they raided the homes of my friends, mostly older women. I was terrified.” She also revealed that the agents “used a battering ram” on one of her friend’s homes, emphasizing the aggressive nature of the raid.
She went on to describe the FBI agents as soldiers in combat gear rather than traditional law enforcement officers. “They looked very much like they were in a combat zone — soldiers with automatic weapons and combat gear,” Peters said. The raid has left many wondering why such a heavy-handed approach was necessary for a case centered on election data preservation.
Peters’ legal battles continued, culminating in her arrest in February 2022 while she was dining at a local restaurant. In August 2024, she was convicted on several charges, including attempting to influence a public servant and conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation.
However, it’s important to note that the jury also found her not guilty on three charges: criminal impersonation, conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation, and identity theft. Despite the mixed verdict, Peters now faces a severe sentence, including multiple years in prison.

Her defense team has repeatedly argued that Peters acted within her rights as the Election Clerk, trying to preserve vital election records from being erased. Defense attorney John Case emphasized that Peters believed she was preventing state officials from unlawfully destroying important election information.
Despite these defenses, on Thursday, Peters was sentenced to nine years in prison by Colorado District Court Judge Matthew Barrett, an appointee of Democratic Governor Jared Polis. Axios reported that Peters delivered a passionate defense of her actions during her sentencing, claiming her innocence and asking for leniency. “It’s with a heavy heart that I hear the vile accusations and anger levied against me for what I did to serve the people of Mesa County,” she said.
In a deeply emotional moment, Peters broke down in tears while describing how the prosecution had “uprooted her life.” The judge, however, was unmoved, immediately ordering Peters to be taken into custody after denying her lawyer’s request for continued freedom during the appeal process.
This nine-year sentence sends a chilling message to anyone daring to question the current political establishment. Critics of the Biden-Harris administration argue that this is yet another case of the Justice Department being weaponized to punish political opponents. The left has increasingly used the legal system to target those who challenge their version of events, further polarizing an already divided nation.
As the Peters case unfolds, many are left questioning how far political persecution will go in silencing those who seek the truth.

I think it’s a disgusting display of corruption in the democratic DOJ! It also sounds like Judge Barrett is already bought and paid for, like a prostitute!
How can this woman, who was following the law with proper procedures, be sent to prison for NINE YEARS, over simply keeping legal records as she should, BY LAW!?
What are the democrats hiding? If there was no wrong doing, and the votes counted were on the level, why wouldn’t you keep the records like you’re supposed to?
