Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake sued Maricopa County and Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs after the chaotic 2022 election, and the two organizations have wanted more than half a million dollars from Lake.
As election day approached, Hobbs hurried to provide a substantial sum of over $450,000 to Hillary Clinton’s legal team, which was overseen by Marc Elias and the Elias Law Group. The action was seen as Hobbs’ effort to win over the presidential candidate he had previously refused to debate.
Katie Hobbs, the incumbent secretary of state, asked a court in Maricopa County on Tuesday to order Steve Lake to pay Katie Hobbs’ legal expenses. The decision indicates that even if the election is finished, this drama is far from done.
