Vice President JD Vance is taking the helm of a new anti-fraud initiative under the Trump administration, signaling a major push to root out wasteful and fraudulent claims in government programs. Officials say the effort will rely heavily on cutting-edge artificial intelligence to identify suspect claims quickly and halt taxpayer funds from reaching bad actors.
The task force is coordinating closely with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, overseen by Dr. Mehmet Oz. In a recent action in Los Angeles, CMS flagged 70 hospice and home health providers as high-risk for fraud and swiftly suspended their funding within a week, Fox News Digital learned.
“As the task force to root out waste, fraud and abuse ramps up its work, we expect the number of potentially fraudulent hospice and home health providers to grow exponentially,” a source familiar with the matter told Fox News Digital.
This enforcement campaign follows earlier actions in Minnesota, where Vance and Oz revealed in February that $259.5 million in Medicaid funds would be withheld due to suspected fraudulent claims. The move came as federal authorities faced mounting pressure over a sprawling web of questionable billing activity in the state.
