Bill Maher, the liberal talk show host known for skewering Republicans, shocked his audience on Friday night when he defended President Donald Trump’s decision to build a new ballroom at the White House. During his HBO show Real Time, Maher dismissed Democratic outrage over the project as yet another example of partisan hysteria detached from reality.
Democrats Melt Down Over Trump’s Ballroom
The announcement of Trump’s privately funded ballroom sparked an immediate meltdown among Democrats and liberal media outlets. Despite the fact that the $250 million project uses no taxpayer money, critics have accused Trump of “desecrating” the White House.
Among the loudest voices was far-left Congressman Eric Swalwell, who declared on X (formerly Twitter):
“Don’t even think of seeking the Democratic nomination for president unless you pledge to take a wrecking ball to the Trump Ballroom on DAY ONE.”
Swalwell’s call for literal destruction of the new ballroom reflects how deeply the Left’s hatred for Trump has twisted even the most harmless projects into moral crusades.
