In April, Fox News cameras caught Sanders boarding one of these jets at Meadows Field Airport in Bakersfield, California. Standing right beside him was Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, his most visible political ally.

Hours later, the pair stepped off the same aircraft in Sacramento for another rally. The message on stage was income inequality. The reality was leather seats and donor funded luxury at 40,000 feet.

Sanders also spent campaign funds with N-Jet, a charter company that advertises its “personal touch” and promises clients they will “arrive in style.” All of this from a politician who insists climate change is an “existential threat.”

No Apology, No Regret

When confronted about his private jet habit, Sanders did not apologize. Instead, he mocked the idea that he should travel like ordinary Americans.

“You think I’m gonna be sitting on a waiting line at United while 30,000 people are waiting?” Sanders said.

That comment summed up the entire controversy. The rules are for everyone else.

A Pattern That Spans Years

This was not a one time lapse in judgment. During Sanders’ failed 2020 presidential campaign, he spent roughly $1.9 million on private jet travel. In 2016, his constant demands for private flights while campaigning for Hillary Clinton reportedly infuriated her staff.

One Clinton aide unloaded with a blistering quote that still circulates today:

“I’m not shocked that while thousands of volunteers braved the heat and cold to knock on doors until their fingers bled in a desperate effort to stop Donald Trump, his Royal Majesty
