A recently leaked phone call between Arizona’s top Democratic officials has shed light on the frantic discussions that took place before announcing a statewide error involving voter registration. The error validated the citizenship of nearly 100,000 voters, raising serious questions about the integrity of the state’s elections.
“It’s going to validate all of their theories about illegal voting in our elections,” said Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs during the call, according to audio obtained by the Washington Post. “They’re going to be calling for new 2020 and ’22 elections as well,” she added, hinting at concerns over renewed challenges to the legitimacy of her own victory in the 2022 election, which some critics claim was stolen from Republican candidate Kari Lake.

Democratic Attorney General Kris Mayes expressed concerns that the oversight would cast doubt on past and future elections, admitting on the call, “all of these elections are challengeable” due to the state’s failure to verify the citizenship of voters.
