Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez spent nearly $19,000 of campaign money last year on a psychiatrist known for pushing experimental ketamine therapies, according to recently released federal filings.
The New York congresswoman’s campaign paid Dr. Brian Boyle, a Boston-based psychiatrist affiliated with the Stella mental health clinic chain, a total of $18,725 in three separate payments during 2025. The filings list the expenditures as “leadership training and consulting.”
Boyle, a Harvard-trained psychiatrist, calls himself an “interventional psychiatrist” and treats patients suffering from severe depression, PTSD, and anxiety using unconventional methods. He has gained attention for his ketamine treatments, which remain controversial in the medical community.
“I just saw the incredible power of what these treatments could do,” Boyle said during a podcast appearance last year. “It’s a ton of fun helping patients get better.”
