“I accurately predicted that my buddy JD would be an instant power player in national GOP politics, so your theory is that I worked my a– off to help get him the VP nomination because I want to run for president in 2028?” he said.
With that single statement, Trump Jr. made it clear that the rumors were nothing more than media-driven nonsense. But he wasn’t done.
Taking direct aim at Mediaite, he didn’t hold back. “I’m actually glad you’re printing this bulls–t though because at least now the rest of the press corps will see how sh—- your ‘sources’ are and how easily you’re played by them,” he added.
He then took to social media to double down on his stance, mocking the outlet for its shoddy reporting.
“LOL A lot of fake stories have been written about me over the years, but this might be the most obviously fake one yet,” he posted on X.
He didn’t stop there. “Congrats to @dianafalzone & @Mediaite for embarrassing themselves,” he added. “You guys got played and now all your friends in the press are mocking you behind your back.”
His supporters quickly rallied behind him, calling out the mainstream media’s obsession with creating narratives out of thin air.
“It’s clear that the fake news machine is still hard at work, trying to tarnish your reputation with baseless stories,” The Scoop posted on X. “Keep standing strong, Don Jr. – the truth always prevails, and your supporters know it. These fake stories only make you and your family stronger.”
While Trump Jr. was busy dismantling the rumor mill, another report from Newsweek brought renewed focus to a possible 2028 contender: J.D. Vance.

During a pre-Super Bowl interview, President Trump was asked if he was positioning his vice president as his successor. His response was measured.
“No, but he’s very capable. I think you have a lot of very capable people,” Trump said.
“So far, I think he’s doing a fantastic job. It’s too early, we’re just starting,” he added.
With the 2024 election still in play, the conversation around 2028 may be premature. But one thing is clear—Donald Trump Jr. is making it known that he’s not part of the media’s narrative. And if there’s one thing he’s proven time and time again, it’s that he won’t sit back while fake news runs rampant.
