Hollywood has lost one of its most iconic stars. Academy Award-winning actor Gene Hackman, known for his powerful performances in “The French Connection” and “Unforgiven,” was found dead alongside his wife, classical pianist Betsy Arakawa, in their Santa Fe residence. The shocking discovery was made Wednesday afternoon, authorities confirmed.
Adding to the grim scene, the couple’s dog was also found lifeless inside their home. Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza addressed the media just after midnight on Thursday, stating that there were no immediate signs of foul play.

Officials have not disclosed the cause of death, and authorities are actively investigating the situation. Sheriff Mendoza told the Santa Fe New Mexican that Hackman and Arakawa were discovered inside their home in the Santa Fe Summit community, a high-end residential area northeast of the city.
