EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin expressed deep concerns over the revelation.
“It’s extremely concerning that an organization that reported just $100 in revenue in 2023 was chosen to receive $2 billion,” Zeldin said. “That’s 20 million times the organization’s reported revenue.”
Zeldin and Musk’s DOGE team also uncovered an additional $20 billion sitting in a Citibank account, funds that the EPA had quietly stashed away from the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund. With only a portion of the money already allocated, Zeldin vowed to claw back the rest before it could be funneled into similar schemes.
