In his book, The War on Warriors, Hegseth condemned these policies, writing, “For the past three years – after President Barack Obama poured the social justice foundation – the Pentagon, across all branches, has embraced the social justice message of gender equality, racial diversity, climate stupidity, and the LGBTQA+ alphabet soup in their recruiting pushes.”
Trump has long voiced similar concerns, often lamenting that woke politics weakened the military. He chose Hegseth precisely because he trusted him to purge these influences and rebuild a formidable military force.
Wasting no time, Hegseth immediately reversed Biden’s controversial 2023 decision to rename Fort Bragg to Fort Liberty. “It means Bragg is back,” Hegseth declared. “It means the legacy of an institution that generations of Americans have mobilized through and served at is back.”
Hegseth’s appointment was already a thorn in the side of Democrats, who fought hard to block his nomination. Now, his latest move to bring Musk and his DOGE team into the Pentagon is adding fuel to the fire.
Elon Musk and DOGE have been making headlines for exposing billions of dollars in government waste, fraud, and abuse. Hegseth praised Musk as a “great patriot interested in advancing the America First agenda,” reminding critics that “Trump got 77 million votes in a mandate from the American people, and part of that is bringing actual businesslike efficiency to government.”
Hegseth welcomed Musk’s involvement, saying, “We welcome DOGE to the Pentagon. And I hope to welcome Elon to the Pentagon very soon. And his team is working in collaboration with us.”
Hegseth urged DOGE to begin its audit with the Defense Department’s climate programs. “The Defense Department is not in the business of climate change, solving the global thermostat,” he stated. “We’re in the business of deterring and winning wars.”

He added, “So where we can find billions of dollars, and he’s right to say billions inside the Defense Department, every dollar we save, there is a dollar that goes to warfighters. And that’s good for the American people.”
For years, the defense budget has been a piggy bank for politicians’ pet projects, with few daring to question its allocations. But with Hegseth at the helm and Musk in the picture, the era of unchecked spending is facing a reckoning.
Donald Trump and Elon Musk are ready to cut through the waste and restore strength, aiming to make America great again, one dollar at a time.
