“I really would like to be able to meet with President Putin soon and get that war ended,” Trump said in a speech at the World Economic Forum. “And that’s not from the standpoint of the economy or anything else. It’s from the standpoint of millions of lives are being wasted.”
“Beautiful, young people are being shot in the battlefield,” he added.
Since 2022, Congress—under both Republican and Democrat leadership—has approved roughly $200 billion in U.S. assistance to Ukraine. Yet, in a bombshell admission, Zelensky recently claimed that Ukraine has received only around $76 billion of that money.
“When I hear—both in the past and even now—from the U.S. that America has provided Ukraine with hundreds of billions, as the president of a nation at war, I can tell you—we’ve received more than $75 billion,” Zelensky stated. “We’re talking about tangible things because this aid didn’t come as cash but rather as weapons, which amounted to about $70 billion.”
If Ukraine only received $76 billion, the question remains—where did the rest of the money go? Even Zelensky himself admitted he doesn’t know.
“But when it’s said that Ukraine received $200 billion to support the army during the war—that’s not true,” he confessed. “I don’t know where all that money went.”
Zelensky further speculated that the money might have been allocated to different programs that he is unaware of.
“Perhaps it’s true on paper with hundreds of different programs—I won’t argue, and we’re immensely grateful for everything,” he said. “But in reality, we received about $76 billion.”
Given the massive discrepancy, Zelensky himself suggested that the incoming Trump administration conduct an audit to track down the missing billions.
“Perhaps the U.S. President’s administration will audit these programs and find additional billions, but I don’t know where those funds went,” he said.

The idea of an audit is one that many Americans would support, especially in light of Ukraine’s reputation for corruption. Transparency International has ranked Ukraine as the second-most corrupt nation in Europe. Additionally, the House Oversight Committee has reported instances of Ukrainian government officials engaging in bribery, misusing government vehicles, and inflating food supply contracts for personal gain.
With over $175 billion allocated to Ukraine by the U.S., Zelensky’s admission that he only received $76 billion raises serious concerns. The American people deserve answers. And with Donald Trump back in charge, those answers may finally come to light.
